Job Posting for Volunteer Coordinator at Family Continuity

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating community involvement through recruitment and outreach of peer volunteers and staff. They will support members within the Recovery Support Center by assisting with skill development, and facilitating leadership opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Director in supporting individual members and families in the program with varying developmental stages, inclusive of all ethnic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientation, genders, and ages.
  • Ensure the creation of a volunteer peer network that is inclusive of members, families, and community.
  • Develop and support Volunteer Peer Leadership Team
  • Support projects for fulfilling community service requirements and track community service records
  • Coordinate and engage members in advocacy work
  • Coach individuals and families individually or in groups on a regular, planned or emergency basis.
  • Educate staff, volunteers, and community in understanding the scope and services provided by the program. Ensure program functions in a peer participatory model.
  • Assist members, volunteers, and staff in providing programs to meet goals of programing developed by membership inclusive of the 4 areas of recovery support.
  • Work in conjunction with RSC members, RSC PD, and other staff in supporting members with facilitation of regularly scheduled activities, programs, and groups as well as specific special events or gatherings as identified by the RSC community.
  • Assist in training new employees, volunteers, and members in areas such as program and agency policies, program procedures, and agency or government regulations.
  • Monitor and supervise the preparation of management information reports and all other necessary forms and documentation to be submitted on a timely basis.
  • Represent agency in community with vendors, state agencies, etc. and attend external meetings as requested or required.
  • Actively work in the community to establish relationships to expand membership, volunteer base, and staffing.
  • Collaborate with Program Director with recruitment of staff/interns/volunteers.
  • Supervise staff/interns/volunteers directly, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist Program Director with development of training programs that reflect best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Complete the BSAS approved Recovery Coach training program (such as the Recovery Coach Academy) within 1 year of hire.
  • High School diploma or equivalency required. Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • 2 years' experience providing direct care services required.
  • 1 year experience in a leadership coaching or supervisor role.
  • Family Continuity considers lived experience, including those in recovery a valuable asset, and requires a minimum of 18 months recovery for this position
